ABOUT ME

Hello there! I'm Kirit Vora, a Michigan-based physician for over fifty years, and I’ve spent almost as much time chasing sunsets and fiddling with cameras as I have with stethoscopes and syringes. My photographic journey began in 1969 with a Mamiya Secor camera from New York City’s 47th Street Photo. I was so obsessed that I slept with its manual under my pillow. Yes, I’m that kind of nerd.

Early Days

My early photography was “experimental,” capturing random household objects like a toaster that burned my toast and a vacuum cleaner that doubled as a noisy pet.

A Turning Point

In 2009, a family trip to the Canadian Rockies changed everything. Impressed by my own photos, I decided to learn photography properly. Enter Adobe Lightroom, a Rubik’s Cube of software for me at first. I attended a four-day boot camp in Miami, lugging my iMac because my MacBook screen was too small, as per the instructor.

Refining My Craft

I further honed my skills in Iceland with a workshop led by famous photographers. Armed with a Canon camera and thermal underwear, I joined enthusiasts who became my mentors and friends, sharing the “4 AM perfect light” syndrome.

Global Adventures

My photography adventures have spanned the globe—from Antarctica’s icy plains to Japan’s crowded streets and places where penguins outnumber people. The real magic happened during after-hours banter and shared mishaps with fellow students.

Current Passion

I eventually upgraded from Canon to Nikon, and now wield a Sony A7R like a wizard’s wand. My goal? To teach senior citizens to use cameras without breaking them or themselves, focusing on vibrant landscapes and wall-worthy shots that elicit “Wow, I need that in my living room!”

The AI Game-Changer

Artificial intelligence is a game-changer. I can now magically erase photobombers, flying insects, and annoying tree branches. Using tools like Photoshop and Luminar Neo, I create pictures that could make even a stone wall blush.

My Ultimate Goal

I aim to create images that evoke emotions, memories, and maybe a bit of envy from your neighbors. Like a magician, I keep my secrets to myself—because who really wants to know how the sausage is made, right?
